Swallow sheds are hand-made in ThermoWood and fitted for you. Power sheds are modular self-assembly kits in Scandinavian softwood.
Swallow buildings use heat-treated redwood pine, 3mm toughened glass and stainless steel nails throughout. A Bayliss XL autovent opens the roof vent on its own as the shed warms up. Prices start at £3,307.
Power sheds use 12mm shiplap tongue and groove boards on a 44x28mm frame. The roof is Premium SuperFelt and the ironmongery is galvanised. Prices start at £478.
Installation is included free on every Swallow potting shed.
The Swallow team brings the building, puts it up on your prepared base, hangs the door and fits the glazing. You do not lift a panel.
Power sheds are self-assembly. The design is modular, all screws and nails are supplied, and the door panel can go at either end. Delivery is kerbside, so plan how you will move the panels to the site.
Power sheds take 5 to 7 working days. Swallow sheds take 8 to 12 weeks.
The Swallow clock starts on the day you confirm your base is ready, not the day you order. Get the base down early and you shorten the wait.
Yes, UK mainland delivery is free on every order.
Power deliveries cover Northern Ireland at no extra charge. Some outlying Scottish postcodes carry an additional charge on Swallow buildings. That charge appears as an option on the product page, so there is no surprise at checkout.
You need a flat, dry base, fully slabbed or concreted.
Every product page gives a minimum base size in millimetres. Build to that figure, not to the shed's nominal feet-and-inches name. The two are rarely the same.
A level base keeps the frame square and the door swinging true. It also lifts the timber clear of wet ground, which is what rots sheds. If you would rather not lay slabs, we list Fastfit floor kits.
A Swallow Jay needs at least 2032mm of clear access height.
Larks and Robins need 1727mm. Cygnets, Jays and Kingfishers need 2032mm. Mallards, Swans, Ravens, Rooks, Falcons and Eagles need 2672mm. Those larger buildings cannot be carried through a property.
Plan the route with no right-angle turns, and measure in millimetres. Ring us on 0800 368 8590 if the access looks tight.
Swallow sheds carry 12 years on the timber, Power sheds 10 years.
Both cover rot, decay and insect infestation. Both ask that the building is re-treated inside and out every year with a good wood preserver. Keep up the yearly coat and the cover stands.
Yes, Swallow sheds come natural, oiled or sprayed in ten colours.
Natural is included in the price. An oiled finish adds £352. The ten sprayed colours each add £880:
Swallow will colour match a custom shade in-house for an extra cost.
Power sheds arrive dip treated. That coating protects them for the first year, then you paint or stain in whatever colour you like.
Buy one size up from the one you think you need.
Leave room for a bench plus space to stand and turn behind it. Our small range runs 4ft to 6ft wide and suits patios, allotments and tight plots. The large range runs 10ft to 14ft wide and takes a full tray run.
Matt W has written a fuller guide: what size potting shed do I need?
Apex gives standing headroom. Pent sits low against a wall or fence.
An apex roof has the classic ridge. It clears rain and snow and leaves room for tall canes and hanging tools.
A pent roof slopes one way and keeps the building discreet. If you are fitting a tight side return, pent is usually the answer.
Yes, our combi sheds have a glazed potting bay and a lockable store.
There are 35 potting sheds with storage listed, from £743, in both apex and pent styles. You sow in the light on one side and lock the tools away next door.
